The 19^th edition of the Fire Tower Run/Walk was held Saturday, September 22, 2007 during Peshtigo’s Historical Day. Libby Abel, an eighth grade student at the Peshtigo Middle School, was the overall female winner of the 5K run. Abel edged out her older sister Molly by two seconds in a time of 21:50. In 2001, also as an eighth grade student, Molly Abel was the women’s open division champion.

Ryan Hartwig of Peshtigo, won the 5K race with a time of 16:12 giving him his third victory in a row. Hartwig holds the three fastest times for the event. Carole Patenaude, also a course record holder, defended her title in the 5K walk for her eighth straight victory.

A total of 194 runners and walkers participated. Major sponsors for the Fire Tower Run/Walk were Burger King of Marinette, Lee’s Family Foods, Peshtigo Times Printing & Publishing, Peshtigo Chiropractic Office, NorthReach Healthcare, and Ansul Incorporated. Culligan and Lee’s Family Foods provided refreshments.
