(click on the links above to see the tabulated results of all three events) Two course records were broken Saturday, September 23 at the Fire Tower Run/Walk in Peshtigo. Kathy Waldron from Green Bay set the pace in the women’s 5K run with a time of 18:47. The previous course record of 19:22 was set by Sue Pierson in 2002. Ms. Waldron, who has over 50 marathons on her resume, is one of the top distance runners in Wisconsin. Ryan Hartwig of Peshtigo set the other new course record. Ryan broke his own record of 16:10 set last year with an impressive time of 15:55. Carole Patenaude, also of Peshtigo, defended her title in the 5K walk for her seventh straight victory. Eight-year-old Tyler Nault
of Peshtigo became the youngest person to ever run the 10K race.
Tyler completed the 6.2-mile course in 53:15. A total of 204 runners and walkers participated in the 18th annual event. Major sponsors for the Fire Tower Run/Walk were Burger King of Marinette, Lee’s Family Foods, Peshtigo Times & Publishing, Peshtigo Chiropractic Office, and NorthReach Healthcare. Culligan and Lee’s Family Foods provided refreshments.
